The Portfolio Experience at Blossom Thyme Hill was the first workshop I ever attended, and did so shortly after launching Elle Marie Photography in June 2019. This was completely out of my comfort zone, but I was ready to learn and grow in my field. How fitting, that it took place at a flower farm. The workshop was hosted by Shelby and Jared Lung of Shea Brianne Photography on a beautiful July day in Nixa, Missouri. The day consisted of three vignettes: a wedding, engagement, and maternity styled shoot. There was also an invitation suite and wedding day details laid out for creatives to practice their flat lay work, accompanied by a full reception table.
I must admit, I’m not one to take big risks unless I’m fairly certain there will be a positive outcome. I’ve learned that every now and then, God will quiet those doubting voices for something that is really important. This was one of those times. Actually, building my entire business has been one of those times. Attending the Portfolio Experience workshop was the jumping off point of my career in the wedding photography industry. Not only was I welcomed by my peers, but I was reintroduced to my love of photography as an art form, and uplifted in the idea that this was something I could actually do.
Below are some of the images from the wedding styled shoot portion of the workshop. Maelynn and Ryan are a real married couple and were absolutely gracious to work with.
